A nice way to make some consequence free credits that you can do once every 24 hours. Head to the trade authority to sell your loot as it has a nice big pool of credits to sell to, (any vendor will do really). If, however you go to the puddle and find nothing there, this has happened to me on occasion but I found that going inside and talking to Shepherd or just waiting for an additional 24 hours usually solved it.
Take advantage of this before it gets patched out!!
