Stars! - Still one of the Best - Let's Try
145Welcome to Stars! my friends! This classic 4X game has a similar Windows 3.1ish look and feel to Aurora, yet, I feel, far, far superior gameplay. In this video, we go through about half of the tutorial, which is very clear and well-written, to play out a game in a teeny galaxy with maybe one opponent. As you can see from watching the video, the interface, at least to me, makes a LOT more sense than Aurora, to the point where I was having more fun each and every turn and action than I did in Aurora at any point. This is a game you can get via Stars! Autohost for $6, and people still play via email to this day. It's an excellent game and really one of the finest in the genre, and I highly suggest you check it out.
Also, of note, I only realized there was a visual artifact after I recorded it, and for that I'm sorry. It was basically my mixer program behind DOSBox causing the problem.
