Steam has recently updated its publisher rules the can ban games based on rules and standards set by payment processors and banks. Here is the official clause. Content that may violate the rules and standards set forth by Steam’s payment processors and related card networks and banks, or internet network providers. In particular, certain kinds of adult-only content. For now the update specifically targets games with explicit content and similar adult-only tags. However, it is not clear how narrowly or broadly this rule will apply to mature-rated game. Who even set the rules?
