I cannot believe I've never heard this midi before, the second the map started and I heard it, I was entranced, and I knew I was in for something. On a blind run, this map is oppressive, confusing, and even depressing. It is a labyrinth of a techbase, with a constant struggle for both ammo and health. It made the chainsaw feel like a lifeline. And it all led up to an archvile encounter that honestly scared me having 35 health and 3 rockets left. But it never felt unfair, that midi made me feel like the suffering was deserved. That I am in a survival situation. I think if it were any other midi, I probably wouldn't like this map, and it would just seem like an overly confusing and frustrating techbase. With this midi, it becomes dreary, and cold, and I love it. I love it enough where I think I would play this map again another time just for fun. It is textured well, but nothing that special compared to the previous maps, I give it that high of a rating based on the feeling it gave me to play it, since it is rare that a map is able to evoke an emotional response like that.
Most of the map is based around hunting a bunch of switches to remove all the invisible forcefields around the blue key, which is a unique concept that I enjoyed. This map took a long time to learn, since that whole section is not linear at all, but spending some time with this map and getting to know it really made me fall in love with it.
This map introduces a spectre version of the holobot. Out of every monster that could be made into a spectre, I am not sure why they would choose that, but sure. I guess we will see if they are used in an interesting way in later maps.
