Strato-Scruffy 2009 - Development Log #6 (Purple Palace)
0If you've played any other Super Freaks game at all, you probably recognize this level--this is the first Super Freaks level of them all, the Green Hill or 1-1 of this goofy series. It is actually tradition that it appears in every Super Freaks game that I make.
In the original trilogy it had no theme at all and was just a random purple level. For a while it was "Purple Palace", starting with this game. It became a factory later on, and only now with Super Freaks 1 Ultimate Edition was it properly fleshed out as Fruit Juice Factory and given the jolt of creativity it really needed. It's showing in Strato-Scruffy isn't that great, since it's just the original layout slapped in a genre where it doesn't really work. That being said, the background is at least alright, though I might touch it up some more.
The boss, on the other hand, is the funniest thing known to man. Try to say "Larry McPeel - Hydra Form" with a straight face. You can't.
