I was planning to do other things for the day, but then I decided to play some more (12 hours in Steam so far). I had to get another try on the game, this time in hard mode. I did better than I thought (only used continues in two stages, in one for some reason I even used 3 continues with successive bonus choices). I am surprised I didn't have to use continues in the last two stages. So far, it seems to me that the difficulty levels mean just less lives. I thought hard would be pretty harsh, but the only harsh thing is it gives you 2 lives at every level start. That's why it feels so hard to me, I would lose a continue or two in classic Streets of Rage too, but at least it will let me continue from the point I've lost and just finish all the levels. Here,. it's just annoying having to replay the same section again and again.
