With the recent release of Stronghold 2: Steam Edition we wanted to highlight the newly integrated Steam multiplayer features in an “intense” 1v1 face-off between Firefly Studios devs. While we’re not entirely sure we achieved the intensity we were aiming for we do feel like Paul and Nick’s Stronghold 2 exploits are at least entertaining! In addition to restored multiplayer Stronghold 2: Steam Edition also features visual enhancements, Steam Workshop integration, achievements, digital extras and more. It is also completely free for existing owners of Stronghold 2 on Steam as part of the Stronghold Collection. If you already own the Collection simply update to the latest version of Stronghold 2 and you’re good to go!

Building on the sim gameplay of the original Stronghold, Stronghold 2 allows players to rule as they please and still conquer each skirmish. Unhappy peasants turn to crime and must be punished, rival lords can raise entire armies on their title alone and sieges must be fought tooth and nail, with close combat taking place inside castle structures! Stronghold 2 Online extends this gameplay to competitive multiplayer for up to eight players over Steam, with offline skirmish mode also available against computer-controller opponents.
