3Sudan Airways is the national airline of Sudan, headquartered in Khartoum. It is one of the oldest African carriers, having been founded in February 1946 with the help of Airwork Limited and Sudan Railways.

However, Sudan Airways faced many challenges in the past decades, such as political turmoil, sanctions, safety issues, and competition The airline was privatized in 2007, but returned to state ownership in 2011 It was also banned from flying to the European Union in 2010.
