"Sugar Waffle" (aka "Sugar Waffle Wahoo") is one of the few Doujin works based on the slightly popular "A Little Snow Fairy Sugar" anime and manga franchise (aka, Chitchana Yukitsukai Shugā) that was released in the early 2000s. This game, which was released at the end of 2002, is a VERY simple puzzle game that doesn't seem to have any hidden meaning or anything behind it and also seems ridiculously easy for the most part... I played for a while and couldn't find any kind of secrets, but I'll make it available for others to figure out (you can allegedly clear the game, so go for it). Curiously, it is the only game from the group that was presented at Comic Market proper (Comiket 63 for an extremely meager 100 yen) by Doujin developer, Tera, and the (basically solo) dev had originally planned to release all of their games to the public at one point but faded away around 2009. An updated version to this game with bug fixes was planned but never materialized.

The game involves dodging waffles falling from above and erasing the waffles stacked on the field to move downwards. Moving downwards while being careful not to crush Sugar by the waffles above or having them stacked over the red line (which also results in a miss) is the general flow of the game. Waffles touching one another will be erased in a chain, so the goal is to connect as many as possible before erasing to gain massive points. There are the five-colored waffles that people who have seen the anime are familiar with, with one exception: Burnt Waffles (the black ones). They don't have any special effects, but the white waffles tend to appear in small numbers, so if you leave these waffles, it will be difficult to erase them all at once, and burnt waffles can't be erased directly but take on the colors of those adjacent to them. It is recommended to erase the white waffles quickly and think of the sequencing of burnt waffles to create even bigger combos.

The game essentially gives you all the time you need to plan your moves, so it's a very chill game. What little graphics and music the game presents is very nice, and it's a shame more couldn't be done with the game. However, if you play long enough to reach the 1000th waffle layer, you will clear the game and get bonus points... so let me know if you get there, lol. This is a video of the game in action.
