Suikoden 2 is a great experience for Japanese Role Playing Game lovers. However, after 20+ years of trying to recapture the nostalgia of my younger days I'm finally giving up on the genre.

Don't get me wrong, Suikoden 2 is all the good things you've heard about the experience. You're granted 6-person teams in battle. Battles move very quickly and the story - aside from some slips in the final moments of the plot - is one of the better stories in JRPGs.

To make matters more awesome, there is no necessary level-grinding. As a game that allows you to recruit over 100 combatants to roll with you, leveling them up is as easy as putting them in your party and watching the experience Points (XP) stack up after battles.

For me, this was a slight disappointment in that you cannot effectively level grind. I love overleveling in my RPGs so I can feel powerful. The Suikoden series doesn't really support that type of play.
