Sunless Sea: making money - Beginner's Luck (how to get 1,000 Echoes for free!)
20Yes, believe it or not you can get free money right at the start of the game for doing virtually nothing! Use your Beginner's Luck to get 1,000 Echoes for almost no effort at all.
Every captain starts with Beginner's Luck, so make sure you get this going at the start of each new game. Here's how it works:
1. Go to Venderbight, visit the First Curator, and accept the 'Pages from the Neathbow' quest.
2. Sail to the Avid Horizon, which is always somewhere along the north edge of the map (be careful to avoid Mount Nomad).
3. Use your Beginner's Luck at the Avid Horizon to get the Eyeless Skull.
4. Sail back to Venderbight and visit the Curator - you'll get a Captivating Treasure.
5. Sell the Captivating Treasure to the Alarming Scholar in Fallen London.
This guarantees you 1,000 Echoes and all it costs is the fuel and supplies to sail London-Venderbight-Avid Horizon-Venderbight-London.
Don't make the mistake of wasting your Beginner's Luck at Abbey Rock or the Isle of Cats; you can also use it at Irem, but that's further away than the Avid Horizon, and only really useful if you want to fulfil certain quests.
