Pikmin is a weird little game about the space-pilot Captain Olimar from the planet Hocotate who is off on a vacation from his job at Hocotate Freight, but his Company Ship, the S.S. Dolphin (named after the Gamecube codename), is hit by a meteor and he crash-lands on a mysterious planet. It is here that he meets the Pikmin, plant-like creatures of different colors that starts to follow him and obey his commands. The differently colored Pikmin has different strengths, powers and weaknesses that Olimar will have to utilize to defend himself against the dangerous wildlife, and other creatures that inhabit this planet, while also finding the parts of his broken ship and, with the help of the Pikmin, repair it. However, the atmosphere of this mysterious planet is full of oxygen, a substance that is deadly to Hocotatians, and with a broken ship Olimar cannot get out of there and he has a limit on his life-support system. It'll only last for 30 days. If he fails to repair his ship in that time he is doomed.
This is a game I first played as a child, but back then it was too difficult for me, as I was very afraid of losing Pikmin (hate when they die, it's so sad...), so I could never finish it. But as a grew older I grew bolder and managed to beat it eventually! It's a lovely franchise and this first game is a great start to it!
