Super C is a good NES version of Super Contra, with some remixed or new areas and adding several new enemies. While somewhat easier than the original NES and arcade versions of the first Contra, it's still fun.

The arcade version's last boss Gava/Jagger Froid gets a major nerf, but beating him isn't the end of the game. There are another two stages to go after that. Super C's last boss is ridiculously easy.

Some features of arcade Super Contra like the level 2 weapons and the 16-way aiming didn't make it into this one.

Stay away from the Amiga and MS-DOS PC versions of this... they're terrible. The Contra Anniversary Collection for PS4/XB1/Switch is a good deal, with this and pretty much any other Contra game up to 1994's Hard Corps (Mega Drive). It also includes Japanese versions, and the European Probotector ones where the heroes are turned into robots. Even Operation C for the original B&W Game Boy is in it.
