If you don't know what the eternal candle challenge is, go to the first part of this series.

Anyways, this level... THIS. FREAKING. LEVEL. Under the no-damage eternal candle conditions, this level is extremely difficult, and has an area in it that requires luck to pass. This area that I'm referring to is the one where zombies start popping out of the ground. They have a tendency to spawn RIGHT below you, and for some reason, their "climbing out of the ground" animation's first frame harms you, giving you no chance to move out of the way. Because of this, I went through that area jumping like a mad man to lower my chances of receiving damage.

The hardest part of the stage however goes to the boss fight. I've NEVER had trouble with Super Castlevania IV's Medusa before, because I always had the dagger or boomerang in handy to trivialize the fight. Now that I have neither, I realize just how difficult she really is. Her movements are fairly randomized, and she throws her snakes at random heights, adding more unpredictability to her pattern.

After beating her though, the stage isn't over. What you see in this video is the FIRST TIME I managed to beat her, so I was essentially going into the final part of the stage blind. Somehow, I managed to get past it without taking damage despite this. What a relief.

I can't imagine some of the other stages being this hard... or rather, I really hope they don't.

Song replacement:
I made two song replacements in this part. For the stage theme, I used Deforestation by Thunder Thouin, which is an arrange of the original song for this stage. It's pretty different, but it sounds amazing, and fits the stage incredibly well.

I also replaced the boss theme with Tues Deus Meus (in manibus tuis) from Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. This song alone is epic in it's own right, but it especially works well for the boss because it conveys the tension I was feeling when facing her.
