I can't emphasize how much I was crying while recording this. Super Mario Galaxy was my preteen CHILDHOOD. I didn't actually own the game until like last year; every time I played it was at a friend's house. I loved playing it with them. If I get the chance to again, I will. I haven't ever 100%'d the game, but I got 120 stars on at least one friend's file.
I did, however, get Super Mario Galaxy 2. I don't remember what the year or occasion was, but I got it. And I played it. I spent so much time playing it, both exploring and advancing the plot. My first time playing, I beat World 1, which was probably the closest I've gotten to speedrunning until I actually watched a run years later. (It wasn't of a Mario game so I won't go into detail.) I like to mention that it took me five years of owning the game before I beat The Perfect Run, which was only a few years ago.
If it's allowed, I'm definitely going to use this game to run The 602 (and 982) once I learn 64 and Sunshine. I have so many memories associated with the Galaxy games, and the other 602 games I've never had a chance to play until now but I've seen enough 602s and TASs to be really excited to experience what I've been missing for so long.
[Although I couldn't find a Sunshine 120 shine TAS and the only Galaxy TASs I've been able to find are either segmented or star bit-less. I wonder if it'd be easier to TAS on the Switch...?]
Happy 35th anniversary, Mario. And to many, many more.
Credits to the Super Mario Galaxy Orchestra and also whoever composed and performed the music for Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. The game doesn't give credits (that I could find) but maybe they're just in the games' credits. Only one way to find out.
Update: This video is blocked in Denmark because "Super Mario 64 Main Theme" contains the melody of "Super Mario Bros." News to me, @EMI Music Publishing. (angle brackets aren't allowed)
Someone who has a platform, please yell at YouTube for me. It would be really painful if someone from Denmark wanted to watch one of my 602s (or even this video).
