We'll be playing Super Mario Odyssey to help raise awareness for autism. I will be talking about my experiences with autism, so if y'all have any questions, let me know in the chat.

My story with autism:
I was diagnosed with autism at the age of two. It's strange because I actually spent my first year being alive acting completely normal, but then one day I just completely changed. I would have really bad tunnel vision, sensory issues, trouble making eye contact, problems interacting with people, and speech problems.

I was taken to my elementary school at the age of three, and the teacher testing me described me as "the worst autistic kid they've ever seen." The teacher recommended I should be in classes with other autistic kids. My mom took me to get properly examined at a doctor's office, and they told my mom that I had autism, but that I should be in classes with normal kids. Apparently with autism, you pick up on what people say or how they act very quickly, so having me around normal kids would help me learn to pick up on their traits. My parents helped me suppress some of my autistic traits (like flapping my arms around). There are still some traits that I still have, like being squeezed helps me relax, making eye contact is really hard, and I overthink too much what people say.

Having a sister really helped me get another chance at learning what I couldn't before. I started taking speech therapy and occupational therapy to help me learn how to speak, and how to focus and act in class. I apparently learned sign language at one point. I didn't talk till the age of four, so until then, I would use a bit of sign language to tell my parents what I needed/wanted.

I was given all my vaccines as a kid, however I didn't take them all at the same time. Back when I was little, they had a bit of lead in each of the vaccines, so giving the 6 month old babies all the vaccines at once would give them lead poisoning (which actually could give babies autism). I've heard that they no longer have lead in the vaccines, but it's still way safer to get the vaccines one at a time.

I hope this has been helpful.
