Explanation:

So first off, I use one A press to get the mushroom. As of now, I can not think any way to get past the hill 0xA. Despite that problem, it's incredibly useful in getting free height just from bouncing into enemies. In this video the mushroom is used to bounce off of the shyguy to get up the hill and another bounce is used on the ninji in the cave to get up to the vine.

Speaking of bounces, I found out that if A is held, it increases bounce height considerably which is why the first A press is held for that long. It is to pull off that high bounce without needing extra A presses.

Everything then proceeds as usual until we get to the point where the third A press happens. Basically, what I did here was a wrong warp. If you want to know more about wrong warps, just watch this video and it'll explain it:

Conveniently the wrong warp places me at the top allowing me to avoid having to jump twice to get to the top like last time.

And then I guess the final thing to explain is how I beat Birdo without jumping. Basically, there's a variable in code that changes the height at which you throw the egg depending on your height. Obviously if you're about 16 pixels higher than usual, then the egg should too be released in a similar way. Being small is important because this allows you hit birdo with her own eggs while she jumps. To do this, you must lightly get off Birdo and immediately get back on and throw the egg as you turn back. What happens is that you're now able to hit Birdo because you were temporarily low enough for the egg to just barely scrape the hitbox. If you were the bigger version of your character, you would not be able to do this since your egg would start off too high and miss Birdo.

Extra Notes:

-It should be noted that in the full run, 1-1 won't be completed like this as we're going to backtrack to the vine to wrong warp to 1-2.
-I think this stage could lose just 1 or 2 more A presses before it may be impossible but we'll see if I'm wrong about that.
