Super Mario Bros. 2: NES - Longplay
Super Mario Bros. 2, released in Japan as Super Mario USA (スーパーマリオUSA Sūpā Mario USA?), is a video game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It was later re-released in the Super Mario All-Stars compilation for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
The game that became Super Mario Bros. 2 began as a prototype for a two-player vertically scrolling co-op game, which was later renamed Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. After Nintendo of America discovered that the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 was very difficult by Western standards and similar to its predecessor, Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic was converted back as a sequel to Super Mario Bros. for release outside Japan.
As a result, the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 arrived later with the title Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels in the Super Mario All-Stars collection. And for the Japanese market, Super Mario Bros. 2 in the west was released as Super Mario USA.
