Super Mario Bros. 3 April Fools Shenanigans Part 3
1It's that time of the year again, and this year's victim is the classic, Super Mario Bros. 3. This year, we've enlisted the help of Game Genie for our shenanigans. Normally, codes are entered into Game Genie for beneficial effects such as infinite lives or invincibility. But entering in the wrong codes can bring about more amusing outcomes in the form of insane glitches.
Anyone familiar with Mario will notice that the sound effects are a little off. That, unfortunately, is not from the glitches but rather because these videos were recorded on a faux NES called the Generation NEX by Messiah Entertainment. Because of how the Game Genie lockes onto a NES cart, it can permanently damage the NES by bending the internal connecting pins, so to avoid that damage, the substitue was used instead. The Super Mario Bros. 3 cart and Game Genie unit, however, are the genuine original releases.
