Came across this a couple of days ago on a collection glitch site. An oversight by the programmers means as long as you crouch on the final boss, Bowser can never hit you with his stomp attack. :D Apparently, this also works with the NES version.

FYI, the emulator I'm using here has a rather nice rewind function.
