Before you ask why I didn't aim for a high score to achieve the high score medal, the answer is simple.
The target requirements is different between the old International version and the later Japanese version

For example, the target score for this stage is:

International: 32,000
Japanese: 26,000

In fact, if I touched the very top of the goal to get 5,000 points instead of 2,000. That would be enough for me to unlock the score medal if I was playing the Japanese version.

So most of the Individual Level Challenge Mode runs will focus on both 5 Red Coins and the Yoshi Egg and ignoring the Score Medal because it's even between both versions.
