Super Mario Bros. Level-Headed (v0.3.9) - NES playthrough (Set 3, Game 16) (recorded 2022-06-30)
This take was played on a RetroArch emulator with a PS5 controller.
I have a copy of the original Super Mario Bros. for NES but got a new gaming PC and wanted to test how well everything plays on it for convenience and wanted to play some hacks and randomizers like this as well.
Level-Headed is a program that allows you to take your Super Mario Bros. rom and patch it with some randomizer options to create a custom hack for yourself. It is better than a lot of other randomizers because it even builds custom levels for you and integrates art, sounds, music and powerups that come from other hacks. It is unlikely that anyone will ever get the exact same result as you, even if you generate thousands of games.
This is just a full playthrough with the game's audio only and no commentary.
During this playthrough I only made it to World 5-2 because the game glitched when I grabbed the flagpole.
In set 3, the generator options were set to Player 1 as Mario (original) and Player 2 as Luigi (original) as the playable characters, Normal difficulty, original Super Mario Bros. physics, and original Super Mario Bros. graphics and music. The powerup and number of levels per world were still set to random.
In this rom (0016), the powerup was a group of snowballs that gives Mario the power to throw snowballs which start out horizontal then arc downward.
