Recently, Karl Jobst did a video on the fake Badabun Speedrun (https://youtu.be/AFrQ1_2bbsI). There was also some controversy about another guy who missed the leaderboards, so I got curious about how bad these actually were. They were awful.

I've played lots of SMB in my life. I did not practice or train for this as is evidenced by the fact that I did none of the special skips that are hard to learn. Furthermore, I segemented the run so that I didn't have to waste hours to explore this curiosity.

I want to be very clear. THIS IS NOT A VALID LEADERBOARD RUN, and I am not claiming that. It is segmented. This run was emulated on the Switch. Segments are made at the end of 1-1, 1-2, 4-1, 4-2, 8-1, 8-2, 8-3, and several points in 8-4.

The WR currently for SMB (by the books) is Miniland's 4m55s314ms run. Full list of people on board here: https://www.speedrun.com/smb1 . These f*/kers by fast.

This was a fun exercise.
