Squizzard's Daredevil Run

The Comet Star in Slipsand has you face off against Squizzard, except Mario or Luigi will only have 1 HP. Squizzard's got bad aim, so doing a Daredevil Run here wasn't too difficult. It can get hectic if you spend your time just blasting away the stuff he throws at you though.

This boss fight revolves around the Fire Flower. Interestingly, there's a boss remix of the Fire Flower theme in this game used just for this battle. You must grab a Fire Flower and shoot five fireballs into Squizzard's mouth before he closes it to score a hit. After every fifth fireball, he will instantly close his mouth and step up the firepower. He starts with balls of sand, then moves up to spiked mines, and finally adding in two cannons that shoot spiked mines while he throws bombs with both hands at once.

To deal with him, the easiest way is just to ignore the stuff he throws, then run over to the nearest piece of ground made of stone to avoid slipping into his pit, and fire away. He can only throw so many, and the stuff he tosses is there mainly to distract you. If you focus on his projectiles, it can become a battle of attrition, and he will most ikely win because you can only be hit once.

There are a lot of questions about what Squizzard is. He is a desert lizard who hides in an antlion-like sand trap.
