Roll Cancel Vectoring (Roll-Cancel Vector) is an advanced, but useful trick to learn in SMO. Not only does it look cool, but it can help Mario make super long and difficult jumps. Whether you use it to gather moons or to do awesome trick jumps is up to you! It is most commonly used to do the huge impossible jump in Bowser's Kingdom from the floating island in the sky!
To pull this advanced move off, I recommend finding a nice flat area to practice. Almost any kingdom will do, but I find it easy to practice in Bowser's Kingdom because you can quickly teleport and try the impossible jump afterwards. To get things started, jump with A or B and then do a ground-pound with ZL or ZR. Immediately after hitting the ground, start rolling by hitting X and then quickly slide your thumb down and hit Y and then B all in succession. If you do it correctly, Mario will start rolling and then immediately cancel the roll by throwing Cappy. If you practice this and get consistent enough, you can try doing it on ledges to cross some huge gaps. The best part about this trick is that Mario can still throw and bounce off of Cappy while in the air. Combining these 2 tricks in one combo can provide an insanely long jump! The best place to test this trick is the "impossible jump" in Bowser's Kingdom from the floating island in the sky to the building off in the distance. If you can't do this trick after tons of practice, don't be too bummed out. The jump from the island in the sky is possible with a simple roll off the edge and some Cappy jumps when you get close to the building!
