Previously, the party reached Rose Town, which is suffering from a rain of paralytic arrows. Geno, the doll of a boy named Gaz, has come to life and wandered into the Forest Maze, which is the source of the arrows. After that doll!
The party heads north from Rose Town to the Forest Maze. One of my favorite musical tracks from the game plays here. This area is home to numerous hidden treasures. One of them is even empty!
The latter portion of the Forest Maze is similar to Zelda's Lost Woods. Geno guides the correct way, but if the party follows the directions of a man in Rose Town, they reach a trove with several good treasures.
At the end of the Forest Maze, the party finds Bowyer, the maniac raining arrows on the town. His minions have found a Star Piece! When Geno insists Bowyer turn it over, the party joins him in battling Bowyer.
Bowyer has the irritating ability to seal one command button at a time by shooting it. He can seal the use of attacks, items, or specials. His Static E can hit the whole party for decent damage. He also has sleep arrows. Fortunately, Geno Beam and Super Jump are useful against him. If your inventory is not full, Bowyer drops a Flower Box, which increases max FP by 5.
After the battle, Geno explains some things. He has possessed the doll to help repair the Star Road, which is made up of the Star Pieces that the party has been finding. The Star Road is pretty important to Mario's world. So, Geno joins the party to help search for the other stars. The party acquires Star Piece 2. Unfortunately, one of Bowyer's flunkies spies on them and races off to warn Smithy.
The party revisits Rose Town, which is nice and peaceful now. At the inn, they check in with Gaz. After the party puts on another amusing pantomime, Gaz gives them the Finger Shot, a weapon for Geno.
To the west, the party goes through the optional Pipe Vault area. This area has some hidden treasures. It also hosts the Goomba Thumping minigame, the prizes for which include a Flower Tab and a Flower Jar. The subsequent prizes are Frog Coins.
At the end of the Pipe Vault, the party finds Yo'ster Isle, the home of the Yoshis. A hidden treasure is right behind the save block.
Next time, the party will explore Yo'ster Isle and then continue their journey.
Thanks for watching!
