I am very conflicted on this game. On one hand, it is a sequel to one of my favorite games ever that introduces interesting and new concepts. But on the other hand, it is a rushed, and glitchy game with a lot of padding. I’m mostly referring to the blue coins that you need to collect to get every shine sprite. Every level has 8 normal missions, two secret ones, and a 100 coin mission making for 11 shines per area. This feels like too much compared to the 7 stars found in each main level in Mario 64. The 100 coin missions are somehow even worse than they were in 64 as well because in some missions, it is impossible to get 100 coins but there is no way of knowing that before going into the level. I feel like I might have rated this one a little too high.
