In this part, I showcase the new Smash Run mode (or, as it's known in Japanese, Field Smash)!
Smash Run is an all-new mode that is exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros! Four players are placed onto a giant field, and players have to beat up enemies and collect power-ups in order to strengthen their characters in various stats. Players have five minutes to explore the field and gather as many power-ups as possible. After the five minutes are up, the players will then have to play a random battle, ranging from a standard Free-for-All, to crazy events such as races and jumping contests! It's a very fun mode, and it's even more fun with friends!
Players can also equip different powers to a character before the start of a match. These powers can cause different events to happen to the field and player, such as causing a giant laser to shoot across it, or causing a player to become invincible for a brief period of time. However, these powers can only be used during the five minute period in which a player gets to explore the field.
Players can also choose which song can play during the five minutes on the field. Prior to the start of a match, there is an options menu that allows players to listen to various songs from Super Smash Bros. Players can select their preferred songs and have one song become randomly selected for a play session of Smash Run. Choosing the correct songs can make this mode VERY entertaining! For the sake of this video, the song used was called "AIRMAN STAGE," which is based on a remix from Mega Man 2, and it is a song that does not play on any of the stages in this game.
All in all, I truly enjoy playing this mode! I hope to showcase the multiplayer aspect of it in the future, and I hope that you guys enjoy this mode when Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is released outside of Japan!
Thank you, and enjoy! =D
