Super Smash Bros. for Wii U - Nov 29 14 C
I was hoping to get some 8-Player Smash on Thanksgiving, and maybe some footage for the montages of the Miis. Only a few matches were ever played though, as the guests were more interested in Mario Kart 8. That's a bunch of progress towards the Gold Glider though!
This video and the following one will be With Friends, and as such, they are Stock matches on rare stages. You'll see me using the Mii Fighters, as they aren't allowed in With Anyone, and I want to get some clips of the Mii Fighters' Final Smashes and screen KOs.
Match #11
Mii Swordfighter (Linebeck)
Jungle Hijinxs
Okay, I was thrown off big time by Linebeck's special moves, which I had forgotten, and this stage, which I had never played before. Naturally, you will see a botched recovery here, just as there was for the first matches of Nov 29 14 A and B. This stage was chosen because it is particularly rare online in For Fun matches, though from what I can gather spectating, it's been put back into normal circulation as of last night (November 30th, 2014). I'm guessing there was some glitch on the server that made it never pick Jungle Hijinxs, and it was fixed, allowing For Fun online matches to be on there. Jungle Hijinxs has two layers, unique to this stage: a foreground and a background. Barrel Cannons will appear that sends characters from one layer to another; otherwise, the background and foreground never interact. Sometimes, pieces of the floor will collapse, and sometimes even an entire layer, forcing everyone to retreat to the other layer. Because the KO boundaries are further away in the background, knockback is increased over there. It's kind of funny to see everyone (including me) get caught off guard and panic, sometimes getting KOed. (Doc Louis must be talking about the stage.)
Match #12
Mii Brawler (Miiyagi)
The Great Cave Offensive
This is a stage that, unlike Jungle Hijinxs, I have not seen online in For Fun yet. This is an ENORMOUS stage, more so than Palutena's Temple or...plain old regular Temple, possibly even larger than New Pork City (which is not in this game, sadly). It's built for 8-Player Smash, and it consists of a sprawling network of tunnels. The first thing you might wonder, and it was the first thing I wondered at least, is how any KOs can be done on this stage The answer is another stage-unique gimmick: Danger Zones. While they're used in the 3DS version's Smash Run and in the Wii U's Classic Mode against Master Fortress, this is the only battle stage to have them. Danger Zones inflict damage when touched and will KO anyone instantly who touches them with 100% or more damage, as you can see is what happened to Dedede's first Stock. Once the Smash Ball appeared though, all of the action moved to the top and stayed there. Well, until later anyway. Now, you're probably wondering what Skull Kid did: He reversed the controls so the input for moving left now moves characters right and vice versa and wears off when Skull Kid fades away.
Match #13
Mii Gunner (Applejack)
Big Battlefield
Big Battlefield has the exact same music and appearance as regular Battlefield, only larger and with 6 platforms arranged in a triangle instead of 3. This is the intended balanced stage for 8-Player Smash, and like with Great Cave Offensive, does not appear in For Fun at all to my knowledge. Whereas the Mii Brawler has short range but is fast and agilt, and the Mii Swordfighter has good range but is slower and can't jump well, the Mii Gunner has by far the best range but is the least mobile. To my knowledge, unlike some other games, the weight and height of a Mii has no bearing in his or her stats in Super Smash Bros.--just what type of Mii they are. In this match, you'll see both Dragoon and Daybreak Parts. Looks like you can have more than 3 icons by your name, as Ness seems to be the best at scavenging for these parts. Also, those 10-bombs from Dr. Kawashima hurt!
