0The Army of Darkness has returned - Armageddon has arrived! The Federation's meagre nuclear defense systems were no match for the Machine phasers launched from deep space. The galaxy now remains a smouldering wasteland, fallen under the wrath of Evil. Shipwrecked somewhere in this devastated realm, the last remaining survivor of the United Freedom Forces, it is your duty to thwart - by whatever means possible - the Machine's plan to transform the devastated galaxy into his new defense stronghold.
Unfortunately, the Machine has already begun positioning his forces deep within the chaos. Not only you must prevent additional forces from invading, you must also drive out these vicious cyborg mercenaries. Good luck, salute and be well.
Details
The game's introduction shows a solar system at one of the arms of a black hole which is taken over by the Machine's forces. The inhabitants send in a distress call which is picked up by Avalon 1, who answers by sending in three ships to the place. However, only one of the ships manages to make it through the black hole, crash landing in a deserted planet, which is where the game begins.
Gameplay
Super Turrican 2 brings back all gameplay mechanics from its predecessor, however it ditches the open-ended levels from previous titles in favor of simple, linear levels, while also including a few vehicular segments during some levels. This game brings back all weapons from Super Turrican while also bringing back the Plasma Rope and Homing Missile from Mega Turrican and adding a new Flamethrower weapon.
