I found some new bugs (I know, it's shocking to discover these things in Descent to Undermountain), and improved the speedrun. A lot. I mean a hell of a lot. I'm leaving this here as a first attempt and as the record for the just made up "All Quests %", but the fast (and really broken) run is at https://youtu.be/LsHXPsX6NfA .

Descent to Undermountain is a completely broken, barely functional mess of a game. I was trying to make the only completed playthrough of it on YouTube and the game completely broke on me. However, I got the crazy idea of doing a speedrun, a concept so outlandish that as far as I can tell no one has even attempted it.

So a lot of crazy experimentation, poking at the game systems, and figuring out what I have a chance of taking advantage of, I came up with a run that I felt had a chance of being completed. And I got through the entire game in just 1:02:29, which gets to be a world record by virtue of being the only run.

BTW, if you want to get world records for video games, go for them in games that no sane person would try for. It won't earn you any respect, but at least you can pretend like you're really great at something.

There's lots of movement and inventory optimization that can be done and I'm positive that in a game as buggy and broken as Descent to Undermountain that there's tricks I haven't figured out yet. Still, it seems like this is a good baseline for anyone who wants to continue.

For those wondering I was running version 1.0, straight from a CD purchased shortly after release. The later patches fix some errors that harm players, but also fix some things that are easy to abuse. I feel that the original version is faster, though riskier just by being unstable.
