SUPERPET - An Look Inside An SP9000 Commodore Computer Waterloo CBM Collaboration - Episode 954
This is an internal view of a rare three board Commodore SP9000 SuperPET computer! It was a collaboration between Commodore and the University of Waterloo back in the 1980's.
Most machines had two circuit boards, but the earliest had three...from what I know, the upper board is where the extra 64k is housed, and the 6809 and the rest of the hardware that allows for all the other languages to operate.
The Commodore 8032 is essentially the host for this incredible creation.
The 6502 migrates to the middle board, and a ribbon cable attaches to the motherboard, I hate that term...reminds me of IBM PC people back in the day who would just routinely tell people that the motherboard needed to be replaced...sigh...anyway, the only attachment and the most critical is the cable that goes from the 6502 socket to the superpet circuit board, but often the pins on this cable are not the greatest...rather flimsy...so be very careful if you are ever tinkering on one of these...
