Domestic work is the work that makes all other work possible. Every day in the United States, over 2.5 million nannies, house cleaners, and care workers care for us, our families, and our homes, but despite their contributions to our lives and broader society, domestic workers too often lack sufficient labor protections.

The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) leaders Ai-jen Poo and Palak Shah are fighting to change this. In this conversation, you will learn how technology can help household cleaners access crucial employment benefits, and what we can do to help this critical part of our nation’s workforce.

About Ai-jen & Palak:

Ai-jen Poo is the Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, Co-Director of Caring Across Generations, and Co-Founder of Supermajority. She is an award-winning thought-leader and social innovator, and a leading voice in the future of work and family care solutions. Ai-jen is a 2014 MacArthur Genius Fellow and “TIME 100” alumna, and is the recipient of numerous other awards and accolades.

Palak Shah leads NDWA’s social innovation team. Palak's career spans the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, extending from community organizations in Los Angeles to helping craft the Affordable Care Act to working with the Massachusetts State Government. Palak received a dual degree in Political Science and Broadcast Journalism from Northwestern University, and a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
