SURV1V3 - CHAPTER 1 PART#1 - STORYMODE GAMEPLAY - BAD SANTA MISSION
SURV1V3 - Chapter 1, Mission 1 - BAD SANTA.
Well, here we go, into the main story, first mission.
I will be EXPLORING, and DISCOVERING at leisure in this play thru, I"ve been waiting on this one a long time, and want to give it a full and free experience, and as such, you can expect these to be long, slow, real clips, with ZERO pre-game information, its all fresh, and will be savored, so sit back and enjoy.
We start the story....Finding ourselves on an abandoned military base, with a generator lacking fuel, so, we are directed to a gas station down the road with a few fuel canisters for us to retrieve.
The streets are Crawling with zombies, and there is a lot of detail in the layout of the streets and the houses. Theres a cool Real feel to the layout of the hedges and carports, the windows that are glowing with lights within are very well done and in VR you are surely drawn to them, its a beacon in the all encompassing fog, and that adds to the over all feel of everything.
Your every move causes noise and attention from the zombies, so every more needs to be planned out and carefully completed. Exploring an abandoned house will create a magnet for zombies nearby outside if the player starts shooting up the place, which is cool, unless you get caught with low ammo and no where to run!
The games looking GREAT, and for a 2 man team, its amazing, Many Many Great point already mentioned, and as far as VR zombie games go, SURV1V3 has more going on than any other, but, its in its Dev stage still, Early Access, and has a Lot to go thru before its finalized, it has its cons, so lets look at a few of those too.
The Mission Goals should be Way more clear, as you see, I attempt to bring back ALL the gas cans, when all I needed was a SINGLE Gas Can to complete the mission, and that would have saved a LOT of time here. Just another small UI feature that's missing at this early stage, and an easy addition to the iPad Tablet interface in-game..."Mission Objectives"- Nice and Clear, and for that to have Some details for the player to use...pretty basic.
Great vibes, if a bit quiet, the world could use a lot more subtle sound FX...from street lights clicking and creaking, to wind in the trees, rat squeaking, to leaves blowing on the road and the Buzzzzz of electrical signs and neon, the world is just a lil too bleached of any sounds, and it need that to fill the players head with a world that's complete and whole, and an entire hand crafted pass of smaller, subtle sound FX will Really kick this game up a notch, its a Must.
Weapon use is outstanding, super tight tracking, very very sensitive to small movements in the slide and bolt, but a lil more Post FX, a lil more nice particles are needed, but, the guns all feel and look well, the range of controls and detailed options are amazing, really well done stuff, the Shotgun Slide/Pump is perhaps a lil too too long for my liking, but, thats a small beans matter, over all, Really nice.
The Storage System needs work still, More storage is needed right off the bat, I don't know of a backpack that's Full with 2 clips and a flash light in it...the need for BALANCE between realism, and what's needed to make a game GOOD needs to be found here, and the Devs are all over the fence on this and need to just Make a game Inventory system that Functions well. VR is not real life, and some concessions must be made to create a more functional storage and inventory model here, because it works, but, its clunky as all hell, and should be improved.
The ATMOSPHERE is fantastic...its thick, there's stuff moving in the mists all over the place, and that Fog also affords us some cover too, as the game has a fully functional visual system on the Zombies...and we can move and hide in shadows as in Thief and other such stealth games to avoid detection, noise and light are our enemies. The Zombies themselves are amazingly diverse and well rendered, and I am looking forward to seeing more of the variations.
Looking forward to MORE of this one, and looking forward to MORE New Content for it as well, the updates have been regular and that is the Best sign of all, the Devs are still making this as Great as it needs to be to become the King of the VR Zombie Shooters.
