The Walking Dead is a television series that premiered in 2010 and is based on the comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. The first season of The Walking Dead consists of six episodes and follows the story of Rick Grimes, a police officer who wakes up from a coma to find that the world has been overrun by zombies, also known as walkers.
In the first episode, Rick searches for his family and meets other survivors, including a group led by Shane, his former partner in the police force. They take refuge in a campsite outside of Atlanta, but it's not long before the camp is overrun by walkers and they are forced to flee.
Throughout the season, the group faces various challenges, including scavenging for supplies, encountering dangerous survivors, and dealing with their own interpersonal conflicts. They also search for a safe haven, eventually finding a seemingly secure location in the form of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.
However, their time at the CDC proves to be short-lived as they discover that the facility is running out of power and will soon self-destruct. They narrowly escape and are forced to continue their search for safety.
Overall, The Walking Dead Season 1 sets the stage for the post-apocalyptic world in which the survivors must navigate and establishes the themes of survival, community, and the harsh realities of life in a world overrun by the undead.
