Unlocking the newest theme in Tetris 99 featuring Super Mario RPG.
The 36th Tetris 99 Maximus Cup was run from November 9 - 13, 2023 where players had a chance to unlock the Super Mario RPG theme in the game. Super Mario RPG was originally released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System on March 9, 1996. Later on November 17, 2023, the game would receive a remake for the Nintendo Switch. A traditional JRPG game with adventuring and turn-based battling, the Smithy Gang invade the Mushroom Kingdom where a giant sword named Exor crashes into Bowser's Castle. Mario, Peach, Bowser, and the seven-star fragments go everywhere, and it is up to Mario and all his friends that he meets along the way to collect the fragments and repair the Star Road.
