Sword & Shield Assassin Fighter Playstyle/Build Enhanced Response Gameplay Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen
An alternative sword and shield user that plays very differently to a Fighter or Mystic Knight. Lots of counters and climbing to weak spots to use Dire Gouge for big damage. Access to a dodge and if you carry them with you bow and daggers can be switched to on the fly.
Shield Skills:
Swift Castle (dodge move)
Showdown (or Shield Drum for solo play)
Enchanced Response (launch counter, a must imo!)
Sword Skills:
Antler Toss/Full Moon Slash/Dire Gouge/Windmill
Powder Barrage/Dire Gouge (Powder Barrage is much better with BBI ring that boosts it)
Clairvoyance (Sword counter, always slotted for me but doesn't work properly on big enemies so it's optional tbh)
Augments: Adhesion and Opportunism from Bitterblack Isle, Clout from Warrior, Vehemence from Fighter, Acuity from Sorcerer if my sword had magic attack. Apart from those damage boosting augs i'd use utility stuff like Sinew from Fighter, Dexterity from Strider and Stability from Rangers for certain winged enemies. I tend to unlock them all so i can switch up when needed. Here's a link for more info on the augments: http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Augments
For stat growth i would start as Fighter do 25 lvls as them, then 25 lvls as Warrior, 50 as Assassin, then post 100 lvls as Assassin. This is down to personnel preference, my suggested build here will give you very low magic defense, but you can perfect block, counter or dodge it with this class. With this build you also be playing as Assassin for most of the game and if you get get bored you can easily switch to daggers or bow. Using shield with daggers is another option that will allow you to keep the launch counter. Interested in other stats plans if you have suggestions. Here's the stat planner link:
