System Shock (2023 Remake): Part 12, Bridge
This is the 12th and last episode of my playthrough of "System Shock," the 2023 remake of the influential 1994 first-person action-adventure game. I've played the original and the remake a few times, so this is not a blind play. I play at 3/2/3/2 difficulty and recorded this mostly unedited gameplay video at 2160p HDR with ultra in-game graphics settings on a PC with an RTX 4070 video card.
Set on a sprawling space station run by an onboard AI, System Shock combines exploration, combat, puzzle-solving, and a dystopic future sci-fi setting that have all remained to be influential elements to many games since 1994 up to today.
The 2023 remake was released by Nightdive Studios on May 30, 2023. Nightdive had attempted to "modernize" the game, but objections from fans resulted in a more faithful remake. The look of the environment, enemies, objects, etc., in the remake all closely resemble those of the original game, but with better textures and modeling. The remake also enlarges certain areas, and retains many old-school game mechanics such as the lack of a stash box, quest logs, or quest markers.
In this episode, I explore the Bridge of the Citadel Station, defeat its cyborg minions, and defeat SHODAN itself.
