FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
Wow! What a pleasant surprise. After trying them for a few days I know why people were interested in these. First things first, they sound nothing like that frequency response diagram suggests. The Takstar Pro 80 have an overall warm sound, with the most distinctive aspect being a hefty low end that is tight, punchy, well extended and really satisfying. Some of the nicest bass I've heard in a headphone, without being bloated. The treble is interesting on the Pro 80. It's still detailed and textured but definitely rolled off, particularly around 'S' notes which really prevents any sibilance, but also makes the headphone lose a sense of air or space. At times the treble can sound a little blunted or incoherent. I'd personally prefer a bit more bite but I think people who are sensitive will appreciate this signature.
For the price, my main criticisms so far actually come down to ergonomics. I have to almost fully extend the headband to wear the Pro 80, which makes me think the Pro 80 won't be so great for people with bigger heads. They are also fairly heavy on the head, and the earpads are not particularly breathable. After about a half hour of wear my ears start to sweat. I wish Takstar had cloned Beyerdynamic a little more closely with respect to comfort :P
