Talamasca: The Secret Order Interview: Here's How It Fits In With Interview with the Vampire
The universe of Anne Rice, an author who indulges in beautiful, Gothic fiction, is being systematically brought to life on the small screen. It began with Interview with the Vampire in 2022, earning a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and whisking us away into a world of passion, grief, and exhumed hearts, followed by the universe's second installment, the 2023 horror fantasy series Mayfair Witches. Now, the team behind the universe, including executive producers Mark Johnson and Mark Lafferty, are embarking on a new Anne Rice journey.
Talamasca: The Secret Order is not explicitly based on one of Rice's novels but is inspired by one of the secret organizations in her novels, which tracks down supernatural beings like witches, vampires, and werewolves. In the show, Nicholas Denton (Dangerous Liaisons) plays Guy Anatole, a young man who is being carefully yet willfully recruited into the ranks of Talamasca by Helen, a mysterious woman played by Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey). They are also joined by William Fichtner (Black Hawk Down), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers), Celina Buckens (The Ex-Wife), and many more.
Collider's Perri Nemiroff sat down with the cast and crew behind Talamasca at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, including Johnson, EP and co-showrunners Lafferty and John Lee Hancock, Denton, Fichtner, Richardson-Sellers, and Buckens. They talk about their efforts in building an Anne Rice universe and how this show fits into it, even though it contains the unlikely but strangely fitting mix of espionage and vampires. The cast talk about their characters and how they interact with each other, including the experience of working alongside McGovern. Learn about the episodes to look out for and mystery characters straight from the cast and crew in this Talamasca: The Secret Order interview!
