Am I supposed to notice that Tales of Arise has the same “hero, put your hand on my chest” cutscene as Xenoblade Chronicles II? Because it totally sort of does. Mostly. I’ve never played a game as anime as this, where you’re a faceless amnesiac badass who literally doesn’t feel pain, and you quickly partner up with a long-haired tsundere babe in a white dress whose skin emits powerful electric shocks to anyone who touches it but that’s cool you can’t feel pain anyway.
There’s a whole slavery plot that mostly makes no sense and a resistance movement that is mostly ineffective, which means the guards have gotten complacent, which is why they have such outsized successes when the game starts. I don’t know, man. But I spent the most time laughing with this one, so I’m definitely continuing.
