I had my recording stuff out yesterday and decided to do this as I've been meaning to for some time. It's not a new run, but I had a deep indescribable urge to make up for this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GGnwdGEx2g ) for a few months now....the chances that I actually continue with this are incredibly low, at least anytime soon, for sanity's sake, but I didn't want to leave it at that last video. Yes of course I have a save file right before the Terrors, and (fortunately) Jay joins near Senel's level (which was 31; solo file).

That being said, this battle is a pretty good indication of why this run would be a big pain, at least until the Character Quests. Jay's a piece of paper with a pair of scissors in its hands, a majority of his artes being questionably unsafe in their use. I really like the character and his..."style", right next to Senel, but dammit this game's mechanics really don't cater to him at all.

Since his defense is so low, getting hit by anything was pretty much a restart. Melanie's Fire Storm is instant, but again Jay has the risk of running from a Flame Cutter and risk getting Fire Storm'd or using Guardian and risk taking unnecessary damage from a Flame Cutter in hopes of blocking said Fire Storm. Fortunately Jay can actually dodge Fire Wall with Silent Reaper, but since he uses an abhorrent amount of TP with everything except Dagger, it's better to be ready to guard against it. Dat square button.

Otherwise the general strategy after 4 or 5 hours of losses+distractions was to attack the bear so you're moving towards Melanie. She acts primarily as a spellcaster, so if you are about a third of the screen away she will attempt to move to the other side of the field. That gives Jay the chance to hit her and the bear for a little bit, and it makes her ease up on casting. Fortunately the bear's AI is abysmally idiotic.

Still, Melanie was a big challenge, again requiring that Legendia patience. It really is a different experience from other titles in the series... but I can't say it wasn't fulfilling getting that victory.
