de Blob 2 is a platforming game that was released for multiple game consoles and the sequel to de Blob. Like with the first game, the primary gameplay mechanic is the ability for the main character Blob to paint his surroundings as he travels and change his color by collecting paint from Paintbots. Painting the environment can open up new pathways and unlock new missions but can also block off certain ones depending on color of Blob.

The story of the Nintendo DS version takes place between de Blob and the home console versions of de Blob 2. After liberating Chroma City from the tyrannical rule of the INKT Corporation, Blob has discovered that its chief scientist Dr. Von Blot has been experimenting on creatures for his color-based experiments. Knowing that he's certainly up to no good, Blob is determined to stop him by traveling to Blot's personal laboratory before he can do much more harm to many more people.
