[TAS] Geometry Dash - Fire Gauntlet in 6:44.267
Disclaimer: This speedrun is not legitimate, as video splices and zBot replays were used. However, speedhack and noclip were not used.
The Fire Gauntlet is one of the most competitive gauntlet speedruns in Geometry Dash. Though each level is a Hard or Harder in difficulty, nearly every level features difficult skips that can be utilized to save precious time.
This TAS incorporates all known skips on 360fps (new!) I feel like this is pretty optimized outside of menus which could probably save a few frames.
The current World Record is by Dr. FC clocking in at 6:45.69, so only about a second and a half slower! It also incorporates most of the skips in this run. Check it out here: https://www.speedrun.com/gmd/run/yd9145qz
Skip Information (ranked from easiest to hardest):
9. First Race 1 (3:28): Practically a free 0.5x skip. Just hold in the wave transition and you've saved a full second. As such, done in every run pretty much.
8. OuterSpace 3 (1:17): Also a pretty simple skip, just requiring a hold timing to pass above the 1x at the very end. This skip doesn't save a whole lot of time (maybe a few frames), so it isn't a huge deal if it is missed.
7. Magmatic Sanctuary 1 (5:33): This skip involves a middle click in the blue orb then holding into the wave to skip a 1x speed and save a lot of time. Though pretty easy on its own, it is still possible to mess up.
6. Shock 1 (4:27): This is first semi-difficult skip, involving a awkward jump over a 0.5x speed. Though not too difficult, it is still missable and considering the placement of Shock in most real runs it can easily be a chokepoint.
5. Shock 2 (4:33): A blind 0.5x skip involving jumping on the yellow pad. Though not conceptually difficult, due to the placement of the speed changer it ends up being pretty hard to time and also ambiguous on a particular run whether you actually got it. Here is a demonstration of what it looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfPSXDHkY-Q
4. First Race 2 (3:41): A quite difficult 0.5x skip at the end of the level requiring two swift accurate clicks at the final wave transition. Though hard, it has been performed in every recent world record.
3. OuterSpace 2 (0:18): The second of two ship clip 0.5x skips. These are extremely hard to consistently get, requiring very straight ship movement and having very little room for error. This one is slightly easier due to having more time beforehand to position your ship.
2. OuterSpace 1 (0:11): The first 0.5x ship clip skip. Like the last one, it is also extremely hard to get, with good players probably having a 1/15 (or worse) chance to get it on a particular run. This one is made significantly more difficult due to the speed changer and wall constantly moving, necessitating small adjustments to the straight fly to properly clip through. Despite its difficulty, it has been performed in the last two world records.
1. Magmatic Sanctuary 2 (5:41): An absolutely diabolical 1x skip. Imagine having to do a near frame-perfect wave click and frame-perfect release to save 1 second nearly half-way through a level, and having to do 4 more levels with difficult skips after that. Needless to say this hasn't been done in a real run yet.
