U.N. Squadron (1989) is a nice-looking horizontal shoot 'em up loosely based on a manga and anime series called Area 88 ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_88 ) (which is also the name this game was released with in Japan), about a brave young pilot, Shin Kazama, and his experiences at a mercenary air force base.

Here, you see Shin mercilessly slaughtering everything in his sight and stuffing the bosses full of the heaviest artillery available—of course, not forgetting the usual suicidal dancing around the bullets in the meantime.
