UPDATE 6/28/2015: I've noticed ants again, so I'll be reapplying today. I noticed the instructions specifically state: "To mix a 0.06% dilution, add 0.8 fluid ounces of TAURUS SC per gallon of finished dilution."

UPDATE 10/3/2014: Still no sign of ants around! Works EXTREMELY well.
I typically use Terro Liquid Ant Baits, but the problem because way out of hand for the Argentinian ants. They typically have multiple queens, so I needed something more comprehensive. Plus the Argentine ants weren't always interested in just the sugars, but wanted water and protein. I applied Taurus on the perimeter of my house on August 9, 2014, and I'll keep place an update as time goes on regarding its effectiveness.
Taurus SC basically works by being a delayed insecticide. So rather than killing the ants on the spot, the ants will pass it on to their colony, where the rest of the ants will die. It's similar with the Terro philosophy, but works on contact, rather than by ingestion.

New Taurus SC with 9.1 % Fipronil SC (Termidor SC has 9.1 Fipronil) . Taurus SC is a non-repellant neo-nicotinoid insecticide labeled for termite treatments and for home perimeter treatments. In addition the termites, it controls a wide variety of insects including ants, spiders, roaches, centipedes, millipedes, ticks, and many more. For an effective perimeter treatment simply mix 0.8 ounces of Taurus SC into 1 gallon of water. Spray areas where pests may enter the building, being especially mindful of the joint where the bottom of the siding meets the foundation and of any openings where pipes or wires enter the building. Also apply a band of spray one foot up and one foot out from the bottom of the foundation. Do not make more than two applications per year. The 20 oz. bottle makes 25 gallons, and the 78 oz. bottle makes 100 gallons. In addition the termites, it controls a wide variety of insects including ants, spiders, roaches, centipedes, millipedes, ticks, and many more.
