Tavern Masters is a game in which each player assumes the role of an innkeeper in the village of Redstaff.

The goal of the game is to earn the most gold by providing the best customer service. The game takes place in several rounds, each of which is divided into three phases:
- day;
- night;
- Accounting for income.

During the day phase, each player receives three tavern cards, which include a variety of drinks, food, gambling, and staff. Players may add these cards to their tavern by placing them in front of them and paying the cost. Also, players can trade with each other, exchanging tavern cards for gold, or for other tavern cards.

During the night phase, each player receives three visitor cards. Each of them indicates what a given visitor wants, it can be a certain drink, a certain type of drink, a certain type of staff, etc. A player may play a visitor card only if his tavern has what the visitor wants.

During the income phase, players receive gold from visitors who come to their taverns. Played visitor cards are discarded if the tavern does not have what they love (indicated on the visitor card). Players discard cards to five, and a new round begins.

Depending on the game mode, it ends either if one of the players has collected 20 coins (Competitive and Team), or after reaching a predetermined number of rounds (Co-op and Single).
