Just a short drive off the main road north to Cape Rēinga, a small detour and you’ll fine the amazing sand dunes. Most people do sand bording here as it is quite steep in some areas. We loved the experience here at the sand dunes and didn’t want to leave. It’s a must if you are in this area visiting Cape Reinga.

And another must do which is in the same area is the Ninety mile beach. The beach is about 88 km long and you’ll see lots people here with their 4wd. It’s really beautiful and I just wished I had more time to spend here as we did a 3 hour drive to Cape Reinga and 3 hours back and stop overs at these amazing places was just not enough.
