Tekken 8 Heat is too OP add defense in it!
Tekken 8 is designed to be more aggressive than previous installments, encouraging players to focus on attacking rather than being purely defensive. This is achieved through a new "Heat" system that enhances certain moves and provides opportunities for aggressive play. The game also features a more frenetic and flashy combat style, with more frequent bursts of impressive violence.
But as we can see after Season 2 its getting wilder than before. and no one is enjoying it and its big reason is heat system and overpowered move sets.
In this video I'm talking about how Heat system can be Tekken viable without compromising its intended direction.
Summary:
Give Defensive options within Heat-
In Heat mode, characters gain access to overtuned versions of their moves, along with some entirely new moves. This allows them to deal more chip damage and gain additional plus frames. Some characters can even regain Heat resources, which feels unbalanced compared to those who can’t.
Many plus frames moves which are homing or nearly homing. These moves create constant 50/50 situations, where players can mash and win without much risk, dealing chip damage for free. The current system heavily favors aggression without enough downside, leading to a lack of meaningful defense."
Currently, there are very few options to escape Heat and plus-frame pressure—you’re often forced to just guess correctly. To improve this, there should be additional defensive mechanics within Heat mode, such as Heat Escape, Heat Dodge, or Heat Parry.
These options would only be available while you’re in Heat, requiring you to activate Heat mode in order to access them. Using any of these three mechanics would consume part of your Heat gauge, similar to how special Heat moves do.
Heat Parry or Heat Dodge: If executed successfully, they would help you recover a portion of your gray health—nothing too overpowered, but enough to reward smart defense.
Heat Escape: This would consume more of your Heat gauge but offer the best reward, such as quickly switching positions or escaping corner pressure entirely.
These mechanics would help balance the overwhelming offense currently dominant in Heat mode, without disrupting Tekken 8’s aggressive identity.
Remove Bound from Heat burst-
Since we already have several bound mechanics in place, it would be better to remove the Heat Burst bound effect. Instead, Heat Burst could be reworked into an armored move that simply causes pushback on hit, granting +3 frame advantage, without leading into extended combos.
Heat Smash and Rage -
A system rule where Rage and Heat cannot be used together in this way. Instead, while in Rage, a player could perform a special 'Super Rage Art'—a unique, cinematic move with a different animation and slightly increased damage. This move would consume both Rage and Heat completely upon use. (more details in video)
Clarity in Heat Meter or Gauge
Introduce a segmented Heat Gauge with multiple levels. For example, a 4-bar Heat system: activating Heat Burst would consume one bar, leaving three remaining. These remaining bars could be used for special Heat mechanics like Heat Moves, Heat Parry, or Heat Dodge.
If you are agreeing with me then please share it or drop your thoughts in comment section, I really love to hear from you more suggestion about this topic.
