Ok, here's what you wanna do:

1) Before you start the mission go to the Armory and buy the Tempest Imbued Plating upgrade, this keeps the choppers from disabling your vehicles. Then get Laser Drones. I know some advocate Laser Focus Lenses to boost the laser power but you can't get all 3. Optical Enhancements is also good to increase your drone operator sight range. I had to respec because I previously bought dumb stuff like the Boar Tank which was immune to tempest but that doesn't help your anti-air vehicles. For Doctrines the Comms row is the most useful for the improved drones, I had already spent my points in mobility so I couldn't use it.

2) Turtle up your base by building another 3 laser turrets and a grenade turret at each base entrance next to your existing gatling turrets. Build walls and gates to block off each entrance, this causes the enemies to attack the walls first. Build a bunch of engineers and have each build 2 guard towers at each entrance and fill all the guard towers with your starting infantry. Keep a Shieldmaiden positioned at each entrance behind the gate such that you can drop a repair beacon right in the middle during each assault that will heal all your turrets and guard towers and vehicles.

3) Build 3 Harvesters off the bat to get fast income. I thought the tempest fields I had weren't enough to support 3, I was wrong.

4) Tech up your Comms Center with both pods and start building Riot Vans and Shieldmaidens (and a Comms Rig to do the secondary objective). Maybe a few tanks but you probably don't need them, as you start with plenty.

5) Train a mix of a few engineers and a ton of drone operators. Fill the Riot Vans with one engineer and the rest drone operators.

6) Once you've built all those turrets in your base and built up your forces, take a bunch of your buggies, a few tanks, some riot vans, and a couple shieldmaidens down the bottom left side and start crawling upwards, taking out all the enemies one by one, the turrets, the bunker, and the SAM sites. Your turrets and the forces left at your base should be enough to handle the attacks. Once you clear the enemies you can build 7 more engineers and capture all their buildings and their harvester for fun. You can build a few laser turrets near the harvester to help defend it and draw aggro from your main base. Take your forces into the canal and destroy the last SAM site.

7) Once you destroy the last SAM site the second phase of the mission will open up. The chopper attacks will become more furious and will include gunships now too, so keep pumping out drone operators and shieldmaidens back at base. Use the beacon ability to build a cluster of laser and gatling turrets up on the new cliff, and keep your forces (Riot Vans especially) right up against the canal wall to help fend off the attacks.

8) Once you've established enough turrets on the cliff build your Air Control Tower and start pumping out Skycranes, at least 3 or 4. Use your first Skycrane to ferry your forces that are still in the canal up to the cliff, it should be pretty quick to move them there since they are right next to the cliff already. Depending on your losses, bring up a few more Riot Vans and Shieldmaidens from your main base too (but leave plenty at your base to fend off attacks). Once you are done ferrying troops fill your skycranes with drone operators and send them up to support your forces on the cliff, these will be your flying anti-air force and help draw aggro from and fend off the vicious gunships.

9) Now it's just a battle of attrition as you inch forward and destroy their base filled with bunkers, turrets, 40 helicopter pads, and the final SAM sites little by little. Use the beacon to build clusters of 3 laser turrets and a gatling to support your forces as you inch forward. Or use the Comms Rig's build radius ability if you unlocked it (you don't need it however, beacons are fine, as you'll hit your income cap right after you hit your unit cap). Be very careful of the gunships, as they can wreck your vehicles, but with the Skycranes full of drone operators you can force them to retreat and even chase them down a bit (but not too far as you can run into SAMs). Watch out for the difficulty spike when you hit the bunker as enemies will converge on you there, and when you push into the final base, as there's a mortar turret with incredible range near the back that will also wreck your vehicles. But by that point, you should have it.

10) And remember, always always save scum. Save before every enemy attack on your base (when you get the warning) and right after if it goes well, reload if it doesn't. Don't rely on just the auto saves.
